Greensburg Has a New Option in Medical Care

(Greensburg, PA – May 10, 2007)

A new option in medical care is now available in Greensburg. MedExpress Urgent Care, with four other Southwestern Pennsylvania locations, expands its footprint on May 15 in the Eastgate Shopping Plaza on Route 30.

“We’re coming to Greensburg!” said Dr. Frank Alderman, President and CEO of MedExpress. “The number of people who were driving to our Monroeville clinic for treatment was amazing. We’re excited to offer them a convenient location in Greensburg.”

Urgent Care fills a gap in traditional medical care delivery. It serves a need for treatment for a large percentage of medical issues that fall between primary and emergency care.

“We treat illnesses, like flu and pneumonia, and injuries, like sprains and lacerations,” said Dr. Kevin Blankenship, acting Medical Director at the MedExpress clinic. “Primary Care is provided by a medical professional, with whom patients have initial contact, and
manages their on-going health and records. Emergency Care is provided in a hospital emergency department for medical conditions with significant risk for loss of life or limb.

Urgent Care is walk-in care outside of a hospital emergency department or physician office, created in response to the public need for convenient access to unscheduled medical care.”

MedExpress is a privately-owned company established by physicians seeking to provide a customer-service approach to medicine, minimize wait times, and address the need for world-class, compassionate patient care. The full-service facility includes X-ray, Lab,
EKG and IV fluid capabilities.

“People like MedExpress for the convenience, atmosphere and efficiency it offers,” said Dr. Blankenship. “We don’t take appointments– patients can just walk in when it is convenient for them, and most patients are seen and treated in under an hour.”

There is always a physician on-site and MedExpress sees patients of all ages. Other locations in Pennsylvania include Monroeville, Pleasant Hills, Mars and Washington. All locations are open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week and accept most insurances without referral.

“We are delighted to provide this area with a new option for quality healthcare,” said Dr. Alderman. “Greensburg is a unique area, with great personality and a wonderful home-town feeling. I’m excited to know that MedExpress will soon be a part of Greensburg’s health care network.”
