Local Wheeling Providers Join Together at MedExpress Urgent CareA group of Wheeling’s most well-known and loved medical providers have come together to treat patients at MedExpress Urgent Care, opening June 25 on National Road.
“I was born and raised in Wheeling, and have worked here for years,” said David Burkland, MD, the District Medical Director at the Wheeling center. “I am proud to be offering an option for patient-focused care, in a safe, clean, healthy medical facility. MedExpress will also fill Wheeling’s need for extended evening and weekend urgent care.”
Burkland was recently honored with the Excellence in Emergency Medicine Award by the West Virginia chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), for his dedication and commitment to the practice of Emergency Medicine, and his state-wide recognition as an expert in Quality Assurance and Customer Service.
Other Wheeling locals that will work at the Wheeling MedExpress include: Rex Lasure, MD; Mike Fortunato, MD; Max West, MD; Scott Miller, NP; Peggy Ferguson, NP; Maggie Hodge, PA-C (formerly Kennen); and Debra Galbreath, NP.
“We’re able to help both the residents and the health care system of Wheeling,” said Rex Lasure, MD. “In addition to promoting great customer service in health care, we can care for patients on their schedule – to treat them well, with respect for their sensibilities and their time. We also offer support for local doctors – we’ll see their patients for acute problems and refer them back to their primary physician.”
MedExpress is a full-service, walk-in facility offering treatment for illness and injury for all ages. No appointments are needed. Patients can walk in at their convenience, from 9am to 9pm, seven days a week. The Wheeling center opens in a new building on National Road, near Perkins restaurant. Formerly, the space was used for a Marhefka auto dealership.
